Cape Jaffa Anchorage marina has been accredited with Level 4 Clean Marina status – one of only three marinas in the nation to receive this accreditation. The accreditation was presented to Cape Jaffa Anchorage by Minister for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure – The Hon Patrick Conlon at a ceremony attended by guests and dignitaries at the Cruising Yacht Club of S.A. on July 28th.
The Marina Industry Association of Australia’s Level 4 Clean Marina program is an endorsement of Marinas that have been independently accredited as ISO 14001 compliant.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is an internationally recognised compliance method of maintaining, protecting and managing local environments.
Marina Industry Association of Australia Executive Officer, Colin Bransgrove said, “The MIAA is really excited about recognising the first marinas to receive this Level 4 accreditation. Marinas such as Cape Jaffa Anchorage will now set the lead for others around the country to follow with regard to environmental management.”
Cape Jaffa Anchorage Marina Manager, Lindsay Gilchrist comments, “By participating in MIAA’s Clean Marina Program as a level 4 Clean Marina, Cape Jaffa Anchorage is demonstrating leadership in expert Environmental Management for the marina industry. It also highlights to our residents, marina users and wider community the value our organisation places on the environment. To receive this highest level of accreditation, and to be amongst the first to do so, is a wonderful pat on the back for Cape Jaffa Anchorage.”
A very successful competition was run over the Easter weekend, with close to 500 competitors enjoying marvellous weather and some great fishing.
Peter Makin and his crew onboard 'G-Train' took out the prestigous overall Snapper category, whilst Simon Taylor caught the heaviest individual Snapper (5.85 kg).
Two purchasers of land in the Cape Jaffa Anchorage marina also took out awards - Bill Lively in the mullet/tommy category and Paul Durbridge in the flathead category.

Over $1.5 billion of wind farm investment has recently been announced by Macquarie Capital Group Ltd, Robe Wind Pty Ltd and Infigen.
The wind farms will stretch between Cape Jaffa and Beachport along the Woakwine Range.
Cape Jaffa Anchorage's Managing Director Rob Gabb comments; "This is great news for the local economy, with 100's of jobs being generated during the construction phase and between 30 - 40 jobs during operations. The turbines are far enough away from our marina to not impact visually, but close enough for property prices to benefit from the massive investment in these two wind farm projects."

Stage 1 is 'growing out of the ground' as more homes begin on the marina basin. There are now 6 homes built or under construction, with another 6 scheduled to begin in Jan/Feb 2010.
All stage 1 allotments have been sold with an encumbrance to begin building within 2 years, so 2010 is expected to be a busy year for construction at the marina.
Rob Gabb of Cape Jaffa Development Co. comments; "We have now assessed 17 designs against the development guidelines and have been impressed by the standard of homes being submitted. We expect to see a steady stream of building commencements during 2010."

The 2009/2010 Crayfish Season is well underway with fine weather and high prices kicking off the year.
Southern Rock Lobster fishing is a significant and expanding industry in the South East, running from the 1st of October through to the 31st of May.
This is the marina’s second operational year. The fisherman making the most of the safe and modern facilities within the commercial marina and wharf facilities.

Wildlife within the Cape Jaffa Anchorage Marina has flourished with land based, air borne and aquatic creatures making the marina their home.
Birdwatchers can enjoy the variety of air borne creatures that inhabit the Cape Jaffa region including Pelicans, Oyster Catchers, Gannets, Cormorants, Swallows, Seagulls, Pacific Gulls, Owls, Musk Ducks and Eider Ducks.
Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck with Brim, Mulloway, Flathead, Garfish, Mullet, Salmon, Snapper, Sand Crabs and the occasional Octopus.
Dolphins, penguins and our regular resident, 'Sammy the Seal', are highlights to our thriving natural world.
To prevent any harm to our wonderful wildlife please ensure that you retrieve line or hooks from the water and dispose of in the bins provided.

The ‘Cape Jaffa Offshore Fishing Competition’ saw some of the finest boats, boat owners and their mighty crew spend two ideal days in the sun doing what they love most – fishing. There was an outstanding turn out with a total of 137 boats and almost 500 contestants entering the two day competition.

Snapper 1st place going to Elvis (Skipper: Chris Clarke) with a combined weight of 23.492kg
Whiting 1st place going to Midas (Skipper: Dave Simons) with a combined weight of 3.782kg
Garfish 1st place going to Searaider (Skipper: Terry Emmerson) with a combined weight of 1.196kg
Flathead 1st place going to Baywatch (Skipper: J Bennett) with the heaviest fish weighing in at 2.506kg
Tommy/Mullet 1st place going to Fish Hunters (Skipper: David Gibbs) with the heaviest fish weighing in at .366kg
Rock Cod/Parrot Fish 1st place going to Lynmaur (Skipper: Lynton McInnes) with the heaviest fish weighing in at 2.356kg
Shark 1st place going to Cruiser (Skipper: Ted Nash) with the heaviest fish weighing in at 15.15kg

The crayfishing fleet are now operating from their custom facilities within the marina. The fishing season began on October 1st and the majority of the berths were available for mooring approximately a week prior to this. Cape Jaffa Anchorage displayed at the Adelaide Boat Show between 17th - 20th July with an overwhelming response from the boating public.
Once again there were high levels of interest in marina berths and land, with an even greater number of boaties showing their excitement for the 4 – lane boat ramp which is due to be operational in the upcoming months.
Cape Jaffa Anchorage Property Consultant Mark Ramsey commented “It was great to see many South-East locals come up for the boat show – many are looking forward to using our facilities over the upcoming summer months. We also had a lot of feedback from boat owners who travel between Adelaide and the east coast – they are excited about the option of dropping into the Anchorage during their voyages around our stunning coastline.”

The Cape Jaffa Anchorage marina is now open to the sea! Following an awesome Marina Opening Ceremony earlier in May, the canals of the marina are now open to the ocean.

Currently construction crews are busy developing pontoons in the main basin and it is expected this work will be completed by end of July.

On Tuesday 29th April at 4.00pm the pipes were opened up and the first litres of seawater entered the marina at Cape Jaffa!
Manaing Director, Rob Gabb, comments "Construction crews have been working long hours over the last few weeks to get to this point, it is a momentous day for all involved. I think we might enjoy a celebratory drink tonight as we watch the water move in."

The marina basin is expected to take a couple of days to completely fill. Once water levels have been equalised to the seawater level outside the marina, the bund will be breached and the marina opened to the sea.

We are excited to announce the opening of our Robe Display Centre! The display centre is located in the heart of the main street at Robe. It includes a stunning 3D model of the project and will be staffed by Mark Ramsey and Jenni Ling. Mark comments,

"In the few days we have been open the office has had a really positive response - people love coming in and looking at our 3D model of the project. Many visitors have already visited the site, whilst others certainly head to Cape Jaffa after visiting the office."
The Robe office is open everyday except Tuesday.
Sales at Cape Jaffa Anchorage have now surpassed the thirty million dollar mark, with the premier allotment in the 'Saltaire' release being sold this week.
Managing Director, Rob Gabb comments "We are thrilled to see strong sales in stage 2 of construction even prior to flooding stage 1 of the marina."
Stage 1 at Cape Jaffa sold out towards the end of 2007.

Work on the breakwaters at Cape Jaffa is now underway. These breakwaters will provide all weather access to the marina and provide protection to the hundreds of boats which will call the Anchorage home.

The solid earth breakwaters will prevent sand drift into the main basin, while a unique sand by-pass system will be employed to prevent sand build and mimic the natural flow of sand along the coast.

Construction on the limestone wall which will define the marina at Cape Jaffa has now begun. Late last week teams of stone masons and labourers began work on the wall.
The limestone blocks, which make up the wall, are constructed on-site by Jaffa Limestone Pty Ltd. Cape Jaffa Anchorage Managing Director, Rob Gabb comments,

"This limestone wall will be a visually dominant feature within the marina and will set the Anchorage apart from similar developements in S.A. We are excited to have begun work on this key milestone within the construction schedule."

Friday 6th of October marked a significant day in the history of Cape Jaffa Anchorage. The official 'sod - turning ceremony' was conducted on-site in front of a 200 strong crowd of invited guests.
Speakers during the day included Minister Patrick Conlon, The Hon. Iain Evans, The Hon. Mitch Williams and The Hon. Patrick Secker. The 'sod' was turned by Chairman Evan Flint of Kingston District Council and CJDC Director David Lucas.

Once the formalites were complete the guests enjoyed local wines, food and music. Site tours were also conducted to give people an idea of the size and scale of this unique development. Buyers Bo and Kristy Power attended the ceremony, Kristy commented "It was an awesome day, we are really excited about this new development - we have always wanted a place by the water, and now we are on the way there!"
